Honorary Fellow of the Diplomatic Academy
Practitioners who have attained such a high position in diplomatic service and practise as to merit promotion to Honorary Fellow of the Diplomatic Academy, and those holding other positions, and or certain qualifications laid down in the by-laws and who satisfy the Board of their high level of proven significant (relevant) professional experience in diplomatic practise (through published research projects/books/articles) or distinguished diplomatic service, including having made a significant contribution of excellent value shall be considered.
Qualifying
Candidates shall satisfy the Board by achieving high standard of knowledge and understanding, as shall be demonstrated by engaging in an activity relevant to the interests of the Diplomatic Academy of Europe, and or relevant educational qualifications (Ph.D, D.CD, DCL etc) in an acceptable commercial diplomatic or judicial related field/discipline. Honorary Fellowship requires the submission of an acceptable evidence of specialization (i.e acceptable Portfolio of proven relevant professional experience), and or a publishable doctoral/post-doctoral research project of high standard on an acceptable commercial diplomatic affairs related topic. Priority shall always be given to doctoral/postdoctoral research projects that contribute significant knowledge relevant to the formulation of policy on:
Honorary Fellowship shall be conferred on account of personal integrity and professional character, positions of honor, professional and personal contributions toward advancement and furthering the purposes of the Diplomatic Academy, eminence in advancement and professional practise, or in diplomatic training, research and development, and or other distinguished attainments in a related field. Honorary Fellows of the Diplomatic Academy are skilled practitioners, articulate, and well respected advocates of proved ability at doctoral/postdoctoral level. Honorary Fellowship category was established by the Diplomatic Academy to honour senior diplomats, distinguished leaders and eminent practitioners, and to offer them the opportunity to continue to apply their knowledge and experience.
Election
As distinguished diplomats, specialists and independent experts, professionally active in their regions, election to Honorary Fellowship recognizes outstanding, distinguished and extraordinary career accomplishments. The prospective candidate shall have had a distinguished career and made a significant and notable contribution to the discipline i.e research, teaching, training, speaking and outstanding work through proven professional practise and service. Honorary Fellows may be invited to participate in, speak or present at international diplomatic forums, debates, conferences or other diplomatic events/programmes and provide their insight on emerging global issues and trends in a wide range of diplomatic affairs related issues. In addition, Honorary Fellows may author, often in partnership with the Diplomatic Academy of Europe, articles or case studies on topics of particular interest to them and may often be invited as guest speakers on related subjects.
