Fellow of the Diplomatic Academy of Europe
An Incorporated and Merited Member of the Diplomatic Academy
Fellow of the Diplomatic Academy is restricted to individuals who have completed the Level 8 QCD Mandatory Qualifying Course or other higher doctoral programmes (Ph.D, LL.D, CD.D etc) at any academic or professional institution recognised by the Diplomatic Academy, and are able to submit acceptable evidence of specialization (Portfolio of significant proven relevant professional experience) in a related field, prior to the date of their application. Dissertation projects from all diplomatic disciplines are welcome, however, priority will be given to projects that contribute significant knowledge relevant to the formulation of policy on commercial diplomacy, judicial diplomacy, international relations, international trade and or commercial arbitration, investor-state arbitration, international investment agreements, diplomatic protocol and or anti-corruption issues.
Fellowship of the diplomatic academy is a distinguished award and will only be granted on account of personal integrity and professional character, positions of honor, professional and personal contributions toward advancement and furthering the purposes of the Diplomatic Academy, eminence in advancement and professional practice or in diplomatic training, research, and or other distinguished attainments in a related field. Fellows of the Diplomatic Academy are competent and skilled practitioners of proved ability at doctoral and postdoctoral level. The Diplomatic Academy established the Fellowship category to honour distinguished leaders, practitioners and diplomats and to offer practitioners the opportunity to continue to apply their knowledge and experience.
Fellows may be invited to participate in, speak or present at international forums, debates, conferences or other diplomatic events/programmes and provide their insight on emerging issues and trends in a wide range of diplomatic affairs and anti-corruption related issues. In addition, Fellows may author, often in partnership with the Diplomatic Academy of Europe, articles or case studies on topics of particular interest to them and may often be invited as guest speakers on related subjects. Any Project that has been completed and granted a PhD by a recognised diplomatic academy, professional institution or other academic institution in anti-corruption, commercial diplomacy, judicial diplomacy, or public diplomacy related field may be eligible for consideration.
Election
Potential new Fellows of the Diplomatic Academy must be distinguished diplomats, specialists and or independent experts in related fields and professionally active in any region. Nominees' field must fall into one of the Diplomatic Academy's categories of diplomatic and or judicial service. Election to Fellow recognizes outstanding, distinguished and extraordinary career accomplishments. The prospective Fellow of the Diplomatic Academy must have had a distinguished career and made a significant and notable contribution to commercial diplomatic field i.e research, teaching, training, speaking and outstanding work (commercial diplomatic practise).
Practitioners who have been judged by the Diplomatic Academy to have attained such a high position in commercial diplomatic or anti-corruption related field (with distinction) as to merit promotion to Fellow and those holding other positions and or certain qualifications laid down in the by-laws and who satisfy the Board of their high level of significant proven relevant practical professional experience (through published projects/books/articles) or distinguished service, including having made a significant contribution of excellent value will be considered .
