 Frequently Asked Questions

Does the distance learning format provide the same quality of education offered by a traditional campus?
Yes. Numerous studies have proven that distance learners perform as well or even better than their on-campus counterparts. The book "The No Significant Difference Phenomenon" by Thomas L. Russell cites 355 research reports, papers, and summaries dating back to 1928 that found no significant difference between distance learning and in-class learning. Where a difference was identified, it generally favored the distance learning student.

How fast can I complete my programme?
The specialzed programmes are self paced; the time it takes to complete your programme will vary, depending on your schedule and background. Most students are usually able to complete their Mastership in less than 12 months, 18 months or 24 months.

Who can benefit from the Diplomatic Academy's Specialist Programmes?
Graduate and postgraduate students who desire careers and academic enrichment in related fields. Government officials, senior military personnel. judges, lawyers, prosecutors and diplomats who are responsible for international trade, negotiations; trade, investment and commercial dispute settlement; arbitration; anti-corruption policy; international human rights; international security and defence policy and anti-organized crime activities or activities related to any of the fields. Corporate and small business executives who want to gain a deeper understanding of the global trade regime and policy issues that affect business growth and trade and investment opportunities. Industry association professionals who seek to facilitate business-government relations. Representatives of non-governmental organizations who wish to improve their understanding of the trade policy process for advocacy and development.

Is financial assistance available to unemployed or low income applicant?
Yes up to 25% tuition assistance is available, however, depending on circumstances and course.

Do you accept International students?
Yes we accept students from every country.

Is the Diplomatic Academy programme really 100% distance/work-based learning?
Yes, 100% distance and work-based learning. This includes registration, posting assignments, receiving feedback from the Academy, etc. Imagine, no long commute, no waiting in lines to register, no separate trips to buy books (You might never need to buy books), and no babysitter to pay. Never again will you have to use the phrase, "No, I can't, I have class."

When and how often do I have to be online for class?
Depending on the course. Most of our courses  are by work-based, distance (but not online) learning. All that's required of you are: a printer to print out your reading materials and coursework, disks to save your coursework and folders to keep your reading materials. The days and times that you have to be online are entirely up to you. This allows you to fit school into your busy schedule, rather than attempting to fit your schedule around school. Nothing could be more convenient. You set the pace and choose when to complete your programme.

What happens if I move to a new location?
You can always continue with your specialized programme from anywhere in the world as long as you have access to the Internet and able to receive your course materials by post.

Will a Diplomatic Academy specialized training make a difference in my career?
In our increasingly competitive marketplace, employers put greater value on professional education than ever before. Today, professional graduates earn an average of 98% more income than other graduates. The gap is widening. In addition, in the near future, employment opportunities will grow fastest for graduates/practitioners with a professional education. Currently, majority of the fastest growing and highest paying occupations require at least a Advanced Professional qualification.

What makes the Diplomatic Academy's programmes so special?

It gives you a professional qualification to move up the career ladder. The Diplomatic Academy's courses can be a challenge but the sense of fulfilment you get at the end is incredible, plus the international value and the commitment it shows.
